This month's lesson is a little different.
Losing isn't fun. Whether it's losing a listing, losing a deal, losing a relationship, or simply not getting something you really wanted - it hurts.
I recently lost a listing that I really thought I was going to get. I had been nurturing the relationship for years, so needless to say, I was disappointed.
But after taking a step back, I realized something. I understand why I lost it. And, more importantly, I learned a lesson from it -- a lesson I know I will never have to learn twice.
And that made me think: maybe losing isn't always the worst outcome.
I would much rather lose something once, learn from it, and make sure I don't repeat the same mistake than continue doing something the same way and never realize there was a better way.
So, as hard as it was to lose something I really wanted, I'm actually grateful for the lesson.
Because I think the things we lose sometimes make room for something better - not necessarily because everything happens for a reason, but because we become better because of what happened.
And maybe that's the real lesson: sometimes losing is how we learn to win the next time.
Until next time,
Lisa.
